Although I am a strong believer in that any diet will work as long it is based on sound dietary theory. What ‘diets’ do provide and many people don’t realize this is ‘structure’. Its this structure that helps people achieve their goals in many cases.

Realistically any ‘diet’ will work as long as it is based on solid nutritional theory, although where many people ‘fall of the wagon’ is when there is inadequate structure and support to keep them on the straight and narrow.

As someone with an underactive thyroid I was at risk of high cholesteral levels. Interestingly (I had regular blood tests) this did not happen in line with the results you have quoted here. I am currently following the same diet again for a few weeks to lose weight. I do eat better on this diet, with more salad and veg than usual. I’m sure this is due to better focus on what I eat, due to the self discipline involved. It’s also very easy to keep to even when eating out.
