Hi Dr. Briffa,
Interesting thoughts on hypnosis. As a Psy.D. student, I am actually on my way to getting certified in clinical hypnosis by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis–I have all the coursework done, now I just need the supervised experience. It is absolutely fascinating the things that can be accomplished with hypnosis and related techniques.
I recently wrote an article on some of the myths and widely unknown facts about hypnosis that I think you might find interesting. I even included a video of a tooth extraction using only hypnosis for anesthesia. The article is at http://waytogogodot.com/hypnosis-facts/
Best wishes,
David Godot

I completely agree with this article. I have been struggling with compulsive eating for several years. I know what makes a healthy diet and enjoy the taste of healthy foods but I found it incredibly difficult not to eat unhealthy food as a “treat”. I saw a hypnotherapist for three sessions in December and I’ve lost 15kg since then. It has taken some willpower but not the herculean amount of willpower I was putting into (failed) diets before the hypnotherapy.
