Years ago a criminologist called Lombroso went into prisons and found that prisoners had higher than average incidence of abnormalities such as extra fingers and toes, bulging foreheads etc. He though they were a throwback to an earlier type of man. However, thee abnormalities could be caused by nutritional deficiencies in the womb or later. Also poverty causes both nut deficiencies and possible criminal behaviour (in those days. ) Hilda

Following on from Dr. Geshes's previous experiments of double blind placebo in prisons using complete vit. and mineral supplements I thought I read that the trials would be around giving a complete vitamin and mineral supplement AS WELL as omega 3 and 6

Julie
I think part of the reason for protein being an 'after-thought' is because protein is kinda out of vogue, and for some even conjures up negative images of the Atkins' diet or something similar.
You're quite right about the need for protein in the diet.
Let's not forget that amino acids are used to the manufacture of neurotransmitters too.
One other benefit of a relatively protein rich diet is that it seems to help stabilise blood sugar levels - something that has general benefits for mood and mood stability.

Finally! What those of us who have gone to the orthomolecular method of quite successfully regaining and maintaining our health have been advocating. However, what about protein? Amino acids are essential for manufacturing enzymes for our metabolic processes and building and repairing body structure. Why does this essential component always seem to be an after- thought even in the alternative health care arena?
