On 14th February I was invited to talk to Adrian Goldberg at BBC West Midlands about weight control and a range of other topics raised by himself and listeners. Here’s a recording of the 30-minute item.

Great interview, and great way to end with mention of ‘Derbyshire neck’.
Actually the geology of Derbyshire can be interesting with it’s contrasting grit-stone peaks and white (limestone) peaks. So water in the region can be quite soft (free from mineral salts).
So does geology within Derbyshire, and the origins of the water supplied to certain areas, show up in the distribution of this ‘Derbyshire neck’?
A regular spot on 5 live would be good too! Enjoyed listening to you.
Some water can be high in iron
I once went to see a NHS Trust nutritionist. As I have worked for many years in close contact with veterinary nutritionists, I asked her how the calories listed on a food packet were measured. She did not know. I then asked her whether digestibility was taken into account. She did not know. I did not bother to ask any further questions on metabolism.
I never went back – a total waste of time.
Dear Dr Briffa
Many thanks for your regular newsletter to which I always look forward to and find it very enriching.
I would like to congratulate you on your recent publication of ” A Great Day at the Office”. I bought a copy for my son as a gift and I will be getting another copy for my son-in-law who has just changed his job.
I have not given away the copy I ordered yet cause I am still hooked to it !! Thanks once more.
Wishing you lots of success and health

Excellent segment…you make the most sense out of any of the palio/low-carb crowd because it’s all real advice for real people, and based on science. Thank you for that.
Appreciate your newsletter and your Escape the Diet Trap has changed the way I eat and organise my life. I have also enjoyed A Great Day at the Office. Thanks!
